G'day mate
Well described - brought a smile to my dial
ps- I like the way you are very carefully blending flash with external exposure to come up with some very spunky images

Lovely work and well titled Kevin. My only pick is that the bee is blending into the strong colours of the BG.I Shoot A Canon

Hi Kevin, This is what I meant about the background.
1: Hue/Sat layer to drop the colour intensity using a layer mask.
2: Levels layer with an inverted layer mask to brighten up the bee.
* Layers Panel
3: End result. This is only my view and I thought it may help.

Layers and masks ARE a part of the basics. The starting point would be to get familiar with the available tools by experimenting, mainly cropping, lighting adjustments, making selections and colour manipulation. After that it's just practice and asking yourself what you want to do to improve or change an image. Plenty of online tutorials to get your started. Have fun.
