  • Out in the real world

I ventured outside with the new macro lens today in search of some insect/bug activity in the front garden. Unfortunately the insects had somewhere more interesting to be, so I photographed some small flowers.
One thing I quickly came to realise is that my hands shake much more than I thought while trying to hold focus on small things up close. I think that I am going to have to resort to using a tripod when doing macro work. The other thing I noticed while preparing the images in PS6 is that the lens seems to be back focusing just a tad. I will check this out using my test chart and put the results up in another thread.
The red square indicates the focal point.
    C&C invited and appreciated.

Not to shabby, good light and nice background.Nice and sharp.Camera shake is very noticable with macro,I`m glad my lens has IS.I find with my lens that f8-f11 gives a more usable DOF,but that`s me,just have a play and see what appeals to you, looking forward to more pics.
    C+C,EDITS OK

The centre column is removable from my Manfroto tripod and can be used as a short monopod. I have made a monopod from an extendable paint roller pole that works quite well. Thanks to Ozzie_Traveller.

3rd one appeals to me GJ. Very crisp indeed. I see you are well and truly hooked with the macro stuff. Keep it up mate. The centre pole removable is a cool idea for the monopod. I've used mine on several occassions. Very handy.

Thanks Isac, the 3rd one is my favourite also. Maybe f10 would have been a better choice to achieve greater DOF, still happy with what I came away with.
