Male Mopsus Mormon.

This is the 2nd time I have been able to photograph the male Mopsus Mormon. The females seem to be a bit more common. These are the biggest of the jumping spiders in my area, this one would have taken up the area of a 20 cent piece with his feet just hanging over the edge.

I spotted this fella on the side of my colour bond shed, I coaxed him onto a leaf and got a couple of shots before he did the big jump. I got 6 shots in total, but only 4 were in focus.
The first 2 shots are uncropped, 3 & 4 are slightly cropped.

I remember a Wollongong photographer (Bob Jessup) who used to slow down a lot of his subjects by putting them in the freezer. This allowed him a bit of extra time before they became lively.
