  • Today's Jumping Spiders

Been a while since I did a Spider patrol. I still haven't gotten around to modifying my diffuser set-up, as you can see.
Not sure what is going on with the lower parts of the eyes on #1&2 spider, took about 12 shots all have that green smudgy look, maybe reflection off the leaf but I have never seen that before.

#4 this one was a real Jack in the Box, he was jumping around all over the place.

Nice collection of shots. Wow for that mouth/fangs in the last one, I've never seen one like that before. I usually just get focus and the little dears jump out of frame.

Those eye reflections sure give the spiders a 'cartoon' look but I like the shots.. and yes that last one is a mean looking critter!

To me the eyes seem to be in a tunnel. Absolutely fabulous and detailed images showing all there eyes and other little bits and pieces.

Cheers everyone, thanks for the comments. I am in two minds about the reflections in the eyes, they don't show the spider as naturally as I would like. But on the other hand, because they give the spider some character, in a cartoonish sort of way, some people seem to like them . Yes, the tongs on that last one look a bit scary. I sometimes end up with them jumping on me when I am photographing them, I have never been worried by them but I wasn't keen on this one landing on me when he was jumping about.
                  Cheers, Brad.
