Pity the focus wasn't on the front one as it looks as if the DOF would have covered both. You've probably got a few of these around now so plenty more opportunities.

No did take some focusing on the front one and the other was oof. So as I preferred the colours of the rear one.......... Will just have to remember to use a smaller aperture if I manage to get two in the frame again.

To be honest I think this image would be stronger if there was only one cricket.

For me the addition of an oof cricket adds nothing to the image and actually wouldn't add anything if both were in focus either. (odd numbers beat even almost everytime)

Also, if there had been only one that would have allowed you to frame differently and exclude the rather bright area of dead leaf on the left.

A 'cricket on leaf' is the shot, everything else needs to be excluded if possible.

        Simplicity is the key here.

That's my take on it anyway.

The rear cricket does have lovely colours. Very interesting little critter, especially love his banded antennae..
Agree with Mick that the other cricket does become more of a distractor.

Thanks Mick and Jo. I agree with what you are saying Mick. Must admit that not much thought goes into composition with my macros - I'm still trying to get sharp images and failing more often than not. Had gone outside after a shower hoping to get some water droplets (they disappear very quickly in our heat) and the colours in the rear one attracted my attention.
