  • Eastern Water Dragon

Came across this while unusually coloured water dragon while looking for birds the other day. Awkward lighting but managed to get it looking ok.

Very detailed and a nice pose. The stick in the background is a touch distracting. Otherwise, great shot.

Thanks David. I removed the worst one and should remove the others.

Beautiful shot and great detail with a nice pose from the dragon - it looks like it's saying "this is my best side". I'm sure you could easily remove the sticks as David mentioned and don't forget to remove the shadow it cast on the rock

Thanks Isac. I didn't think it would be much good as it was backlit with a bright background but it came up ok. I did remove one over-exposed stem.

      Better than no stem removed

Have not been able to get close in the wild usually hear the splash well before I see them. They do look so much like the iguanas in South America which seem to be a lot easier to get close to. Also the Chamelions in Madagascar if someone shows them to you will sit still. I couldn't see it until the guide got it to move. Amazing creatures. Had a Goanna come around looking for scraps i put on the ant heap every lunch time wasn't shy either.Your Dragon looks quite friendly.

Yes, he sat quietly while I took a few shots. Plenty of fairly tame ones around here, mostly in parks and accustomed to people, it also on a fairly long national park walking track.. They do look similar to the iguanas but are classified in a different family.

Thanks Phil. Actually the son of an acquaintance has a bearded dragon as a pet, they seem to be quite popular; not too sure about the cuddling.
Working...
