Beautiful colour eaglem. Great to have roses to photograph. Mine have been attacked by those mongrel Chilli thrips in the Perth metropolitan area. The pest has moved down from the north of the State to the south in recent years and has recently been very active in Perth gardens. They were first reported in north Western Australia about 20 years ago. They are sap-sucking insects that can cause deformities in flowers, leaves, stems, and shoots. They are also known as strawberry, and tea thrips and mainly feed on roses and all citrus. I hope they don't get into my Wahington Naval oranges, which are almost ready to start dropping.

You'll know it when they do invade - they are quite destructive. My neighbour has them and all there red roses are half their size to normal and look very droopy.
