  • Just trees

On a morning walk the other day, I noticed that some of the trees were shedding their bark and showing good colour, so I took the camera this morning to try to capture some shots.

I find it difficult to compose shots in the forest and thought I try with a slightly longer focal length and shallow depth of field. Please let me know what you think.

All with D850 and Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro.

I really like #5 Alan, there is a lot of interesting texture and nice colouring in the main subject. The BG is is out of focus enough to make the main subject stand out, but still be recognisable.

Yes The anual shedding does give rise to a more interesting tree trunk. Adds colour as well.

Nice shots. I really like the last one, quite a lot of texture.

      G'day Alan

Beaut to see you joining the "Wide World of Treescapes" !!! with these pics

Seriously tho - I particularly like #1 - #2 - #5 for their details and oof backgrounds / bokeh, and as has been said above, #5 stands out because it is well separated from the background
Well done matey -- keep going and havago with the Big-Bertha to copy the closeups above

Thanks Phil. Actually I’ve been pointing a camera trees for a very long time, with mostly lacklustre results, just not much in recent years.
