Not too shabby considering it was shot with a 500mm lens. Those PF lenses are amazing for the price.

Alan - the 3m min focus distance of one reason that I started (ie- back in the 60s) using a close-up lens onto my Big-Bertha to do closeup stuff while retaining full zoom capability of the main lens. A #1 dioptre lens will bring your focus down to 1metre if that might help. Obviously a good bit of glass from one of the better known companies will be needed

Thanks Phil, I have thought about something like that but I would normally use a macro lens for insects and spiders. It works well enough for the odd encounter with something small and interesting. But then I have used it like this a number of times recently so perhaps I should reconsider.

Excellent lighting and detail. Unfortunately I haven't seen too many Spiders around as yet. This was the best but it's larder was empty.
