  • Aussie Corellas feeding

    G'day all

These Aussie Corellas are feeding on the fallen seeds from a local tree. After years of drought and few if any seeds being dropped, this year the local Norfolk Pine trees have made up for it. Millions upon millions of seed pods dropped - meaning that the birds arrive at dawn and wake us with their cacophony of sqwarks, and later in the week our compost green-bin is filled to overflowing with 'debris'

The birds are very skittish and the closest I could get before they took flight was about 6 metres / 20 ft.

1)- some of the 100 or so birds on the front yard

    2)- two having a snack

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Nice work Phil. They are real characters and wonderful subjects. Good interaction between the two birds in #2.

I saw a large flock yesterday morning but sadly only at a distance.

Managed to get a bit of action which is always a plus. I'm sure you don't mind being disturbed by this lot.

Lovely birds doing what they do best Phil and well captured. The pine seeds as a food for cockies are considered a real delicacy. BUT they are very high in calories and can be fattening. When they gorge themselves with a smorgersbord like you've shown it can cause ill health.Just a bit of trivia for you.

I don't mind these as they are one of the Parrot lot that know how to have fun still and this is the part I like to watch and get a shot of them when I watch them at the ovals.
Nicely done and the last 2 have really got me, so another well done on them 2.
