  • An ill wind

We had some pretty wild winds in our part of the world this morning. All of these photo's were taken within 100 metres of my house.

Looks like you had a bit of wind mate. Good photos of the aftermath. Have you considered photographic journalism?
Glad that you weren't hit John. Looks like there's a big clean up and plenty of repairs coming up. We saw it on the news and it looked awful.

Plenty of firewood for next year if anyone wants it. Hopefully the council replace the fallen trees with something more suitable for a suburban streetscape.

      G'day GJ

That's a hellova wind storm matey - to split a large tree down the middle suggests a twister / whirlwind / sort of gust
ps- in the Canberra bushfires of 20 yrs ago, we had similar tree-felling (but burned as well) and the CSIRO estimated that to fell trees of that size & weight, the 'twister' was about 300km/h x about a 50m centre

Looking closely at the split tree you can see that it was not very healthy. I will get some closer shots later today to show you.

Interesting shots John. Very glad you didn't get any damage. You seem to be getting more than your share of wild weather down there.

Lucky to not be taking pictures like this of your own place. Much better an interested bystander making pictures.
