Closeups at 500mm of zoom

G'day all

One of the things that I like about the Panny FZ cameras is their excellent lens system... and the ability to zoom out over the tops of intervening fences / bushes / weeds / etc. to grab a close-up of 'something' - this time it's a blue flower head covered in water droplets from the overnight dew

What was the physical distance from the camera sensor plane to the flower? I'm really surprised that at a long distance (I assume) with such a small sensor the leading edge of the flower appears to be out of focus.

If I were still at that farm I could walk back and give you a good reply ~ but memory says it was 3-4m sort of distance
I wanted the sharp ring of dew-drops to be the visually striking thing, so was less concerned with DoF

That makes sense. I was assuming it was further from the camera.

Nice work Phil. You've really highlighted the drops across the top of the flower. I would been happy with f:8 - f:11 for more DOF but that's just MHO.
