A couple of flowers

I took a couple of wildflower shots when I was out on Friday.

All Nikon D800 and Nikon 500mm PF f/5.6. Not what you would normally use for flowers.

Thanks Phil, I was looking for birds and it was all I had with me.

Yeah, they're lovely shots Alan. Zooms are good for flower shots. They make it east to get a good bokeh. How close to the subject can the lens focus?

Thanks for commenting Isac. The 500 PF is a prime, not a zoom and the minimum focus distance is 3 metres, so not ideal for close-ups on smaller subjects. Good for the water lilies though as they were a bit away from the bank.

Your 500 is a classy bit of glass and gives you great results Alan. I'm using a lot cheaper lens but I'm happy that I can get reasonable detail by being able to get up close.
