  • The Moon.

These are at 400mm using the Tamron 18-400. Best I can get, so I'm happy with the reasonable results - remembering that the moon is a very long way away! I reckon if I was on the moon, I would be able to see W.A. very clearly. I was considering a 1.4X Teleconverter but not sure about loss of IQ.

Looks pretty good at this size Isac, and the second one looks like it belongs in a horror film. I've never done much good with shots of the moon, but I should try with my newest lens.

Give it a crack Alan. You'll be surprised. If you start with the Lunar 11 Rule, you can't go wrong. Set the aperture to f/11 and then set your Shutter speed to your ISO. eg: f/11 - 1/800th/sec = 800-ISO and 1200-ISO = 1/1200th/sec. It will give good results and then you can play from there. If you want ISO-100 then shutter at 100th/sec so a tripod or steadier would be the go. I've used a tripod at the slower speed and got good results but remember the moon is always moving so I prefer the higher ISO settings.
