Beauty and the Strange.

#1 - The Beauty. A fabulous Grevillea flower.

#2 - The Strange. At first glance I thought it was just an unusual looking flower, until a closer look revealed this, a Feathermon.

Nice flower shot. Good colour and separation from the background but I think it might be a Grevillea.

My boo-boo Alan. You're dead right mate - another senior moment!!
A feathermon is the name I give to bird feathers that get stuck in a Callistemon, but in this case after your flora ID it is now a Grevilfeather.

Ok, makes sense now. I wondered if my vocabulary or general knowledge was lacking. Feathermon sounds like it could be a real word.

Feathermon is a real word I just made it up. That's how all words become real. Here's the new ones added for 2020. I'm sure feathermon will get in there eventually
