  • Got one

Finally after 35 years living here I got an at least half decent Lyrebird shot.

Nice and sharp and well framed. Looks like tagging by local authorities so it's being monitored, which is a good thing. Nice photo in the natural habitat.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

      G'day mate

and another pat on the back for your efforts as well. Knowing how timid these birds are, I suspect your efforts to get this pic required a lot extra than most normal / everyday pics of birds

They involved me clambering along a muddy slippery overgrown and photographically blah stream bed I have wanted to explore for ages at about 5.30 pm with the sun well set behind the hill and seeing this bird out of the corner of my eye. It hung around long enough for me to put my tripod down get my camera out change the wide angle to a 55-200 and get some shots. Nice cooperative female Lyrebird.

I think she was quite happy she was singing away to herself (and not imitating either a chainsaw or a camera shutter. )

Then she got sick of the game of hiding or partially hiding and went off into the bush

Well done K1W1, your patience was rewarded with some great shots of a rarely seen, let alone photographed, local bird.
