Captured this little fella on my recent trip to Cairns. I was visiting the Cattana Wetlands and spotted him/her just sitting on a branch. Best insect image I have ever taken, if anyone knows what species it is I would really appreciate a comment.

Canon 7D MkII Sigma 20-105 @ 62mm F4.0, 1/25 sec., ISO 100. Full size, not cropped at all. Very little PP needed.

Looks like a steam punk animal . lovely capture though!
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

Thanks Hans. Not sure what a "steam punk animal" is though

Yeah, it's a "Steam Punk Short Horned Grasshopper". Lovely image John - good luck finding out what it is, there's hundreds of them.

I think that I may have identified my 'hopper friend. Valanga Irregularis, a Giant Grasshopper.
