  • Hundreds of seals, two albatross and a whale

SWMBO booked us on a whale watch cruise to celebrate our 47th anniversary today. Not a very successful outing, but i did manage a few good images with the Siggy 150-600.
Freezing cold massive swells and a reluctant to be photographed whale did not make things easy. Very hard to keep the subject in the viewfinder when a boat is rocking so hard that the horizon is constantly disappearing. As bad as I felt not having much luck with the wildlife, I had felt really bad for my wife who spent 21/2 hours of the 4 hour trip throwing up, she wasn't the only one.

Very happy with the new lens.

Lens doing the business John. Shame about the conditions. The albatross and humpback images look nice and sharp.

Thanks Toddy. The seals don't look as sharp as they should, the boat was really rocking at that stage so I may have missed focus.

Good to see you out and about to celebrate the big day John. The photos have turned out rather well especially in those horrible conditions. New toy seems to handle it all with ease - well done mate!

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Did I mention that it started raining when the whale finally made an appearance.

        G'day GJ

All in all, your pics are a valid record of an important day / milestone, so the fact that 'some' [maybe none really] are less than 100% perfect ~ well it really does not matter
You had a day's outing with 'the boss' and you have some beaut pics from your great 'coca-cola bottle' that's bolted onto your camera

        Well done !!
