  • More Hoppers on the Log

This is taken handheld through the dirty glass on my kitchen window. I haven't tried this before as I didn't think the results would be real good, but opening the screen door and waking out to get a clear view/shot disturbs them and you don't get the candid shot. So I thought I would give it a try. Might even clean the glass today for future shots.

While I was processing the first shot above, my wife called out that there was some more action on the log. Grabbed the camera and went back to the kitchen, and saw Mum and the Joey giving each other a bit of a cuddle, and a wash behind the ears.
This time I pressed the end of the lens onto the glass to help steady things, maybe a bit sharper, as the shutter speed is quite low for handholding.

Edit to add exif- These are taken @ 600mm, f8, 1/320th, auto iso ranging from 320 - 500, they are all cropped a bit.

Great series of shots Brad given the conditions.
Have you considered something like this for your wildlife photography? If your wildlife is appearing at the same location on a regular basis you may find it useful.

Got to agree with John, great series. The window method works well for you Ironwood. Good to see you turned the log to put the burl upright so the young one could reach mum - very thoughtful.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks John, pretty happy with how they went, because I had pretty low expectations.
I don’t think I am regimented enough to use one of those gizmos, the wildlife isn’t either I would think .

Thanks Isac. The window is certainly convenient.
I knew I left that burl on the log for a reason .
