        Just got to be patient and be prepared to move around until you can get a reasonably clear look at the bird with a clear background.

      Thanks both of you, yes I suppose I could have turned into a Robin red breast if I wanted to but this is the actual coloration of the bird in this instance. I get a few different Green Finches visiting the garden and there is a quite a difference in their colors. I'm assuming differences between male and female and also juvenile birds but at this stage I'm not sure which is which. Some even look very much like sparrows but I'm pretty sure they're not.

        I like your positioning of the bird and the pose; pity about all the twigs. Good colour in the bird considering the bright background. Was this using flash fill?
