  • Afternoon tea - just a small snack

    G'day all

Sitting on the banks of the creek at Julia Creek Q, I watched this heron slowly coming towards me - and quick as a flash - grabbing its afternoon tea
When all was 'down the gurgler' the bird did a funny thing - see final pic

1- Slowly approaching, stepping very carefully, eyes sweeping from side to side then staring intently into the water

    Panny FZ-200; 24x zoom [600mm film camera equiv]; 1/800s @ F4,0; ISO-100 + some cropping for display

2- Whammo - gottcha - now what do I do with it ...

3- Glerp - ooh - down you go

    4- Hmm - that was gooood - what's next?

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Great series Phil. #2 the action shot is a cracker.
What's it doing at the end there? Burping?

Agree with Todd, terrific series. Nice "pat on the back" fluff up at the end. These Herons (and Egrets) do some crazy things during and after feeding. I have some egret shots that are crazy as. Good work, keep 'em coming Phil.

Yes - burping, but I'm not sure which end the 'burp' is coming from

Nice series Phil. It's good to get a story with the photos.
              Cheers, Brad.
