  • Jelly

"These gelatinous blobs are apparently egg cases from the conical sand snail.

If you look inside them, there are lots of little eggs, in a mass of clear jelly.

They are laid in estuary beaches and mud flats all around Australia.

They are most common during summer months.

While they are commonly mistaken for a type of jellyfish and often avoided by beach goers, the egg cases are harmless."

I like the lighting effect of the sun shining through. Almost looks like a diamond in the rough.

Here's a shot which shows the general shape of the egg jelly.

Thanks Greg - that's pretty much what it looked like, except my low pov doesn't show it

Very nice shot Alan .. it looks super with the sun shining through, as well as educational. Greg's egg jelly looks like a jelly turd lol .. but look at the barnacles near it, they look gold.

                Thanks Anna

I almost didn't take the shot, but turned around just to see what it might look like from ground level

The phone comes into it's own here. Turning it upside down puts the lens almost on the sand - I didn't even have to turn macro on, or set aperture or shutter speed or ISO
