We have about 8 in the lake and if you sit quietly they go about their business without concern. I've even had them on the shore at my feet scratching themselves when I've been working on the waterway. Naturally if you go aggressively towards the water they soon disappear!
Awesome shot Greg. We have them living in the creek that runs past my house, but they are so wary and elusive I am yet to get a decent photo of one. If you make the slightest noise or they see you move, they are gone. I just don't have the time to sit and wait for one to start moving along the surface of the creek. There is one section of the creek that it's not uncommon to see them, but it is very heavily shaded, so any shot there wouldn't be an easy one.
Whoa, what a pleasant surprise to see your image.
I was expecting a long distant down angled shot of a very shy brown animal in brown water and I'd be happy with that if I had captured a platypus at all!
Lovely close low POV, captures a sweet personality.
Love the moving blue water against the fur.
Great shot Greg.
