  • Copulating critters

We were on rocks in the middle of the river when these two decided to make the path their bedroom. The female was just over 1 metre from nose to tip of tail and the male was enormous. I now know goannas do it again, again and again. Initially thought great photo op but after about the 10th time was just wanting them to get off the path so we could get back to our car. No way was I game enough to walk past them so, after 1 1/4 hours, we scrambled along the rocks on the river edge then up the bank, all the while hoping there were no more slithery things hiding in that area.

    Great captures Gabby.

The last is the strongest for me. Excellent low angle and the ground isn't as bright as the other two frames. Having both heads in the frame makes it and composition is strong.
