  • White Necked Heron

Went around the traps with my camera ... trying to get some good shots of the sugar cane while it's flowering and before harvest ...as it is now "crushing season". Sooo the crop I wanted to photograph was inaccessible from where I was and would have to walk a fair bit next to the busy road and up to a bridge.... but I spotted this dude and I was only 5 metres away at least and was watching, he spotted something and caught it ...it was a lizard and I watched him gobble it down. Never knew Heron's ate lizards. He then found another and gobbled that too.

These were taken using my 100mm macro lens.. I am pretty happy with how they turned out and with only a crop in LR and clarity.
    Here are a few shots

well spotted, yes it's funny that the lense you have is the best lense for the job, I have found that my 300mm is a great portrait lense
    cheers

These are great shots Anna, sharp showing his colours and detail well. A friend with a Canon uses his 100mm macro lens for almost everything. Send him here, we have lots of geckos for him to eat.

Thanks ..I was totally happy with how they came out. My 100mm macro really pumps out some good shots when I've got the settings right lol ... This Heron was near an underpass which had a little bit of water still and right next to cane fields.
