You may have noticed there are a lot of Pelican Fans here.I usually post at 900 pixels,as long as your file size is 250kb or smaller,you shouldn`t have any problems.

I post at 800 or 900 pixels on the longest side and keep the file size down under 250kb, because if I'm using the smaller monitor the 1000px ones vanish off the edge of the screen I'd probably like the photo to be a bit bigger than 500px long, but any photo, even one that size is better than having to click on a link to see it.

Or even better, join a photo hosting site such as Pixr or FLickr or photobucket and link from them..with 800 to 1000.
