Regal Raptor

China came to the studio, and as well as doing our Raptor on Black series I felt I had to do something extra for China given his personality. I picked up the chair the other day knowing it would come in handy for some animal portraits. This is a one light setup with a 200x30cm stripbox feathered in front of and to the left of frame, for fill on the other side I used a 240x120cm foamboard.

Beautiful, great detail in the chest and wings and the muted shades really compliment China. I'm assuming it's called China as in porcelain - very appropriate as their expression never seems to change and they always remind me of ceramic birds

to gain the trust of a wild creature is all ways special, but for it to have light flashed at it and still trust you .... is exceptional !!! and so is the capture no matter how tame the owl maybe
