    #1 is a ripper!

    The lilies add balance to the composition and the tall reeds just behind the bird work as a pleasant backdrop. Great habitat shot.

    Looks as though you didn't quite get the panning right with #2 but I'm sure you'll iron the bugs out with practice. Panning is really hard if you're not doing it on a regular basis.

      Beautiful study of a bird in it's habitat in #1. Often tricky to get the exposure right on these birds. Nice eye contact too

        Thanks Mick and Alan. They're just so damned unpredictable and by the time I find them with the camera, they are usually almost gone.

          Yes the first one is very nice.. Love a bit of location detail in the pictures. Didn't miss by much on the second either!

            Lovely capture with the environment in number one.
            Swine to pan and get things in focus, but the birds pose is classic.
