Wouldn't worry about the background too much, heck I've mastered the art of turning beautiful blue skies into white.

This looks great to me. Like the way you've managed to isolate the love birds against the sky.

Stuff the background,the light conditions have allowed you to catch beautiful detail in the feathers without a hint of blown highlights.Nice sharp focus on the eyes and lovely composition make this a great image.
