Really like the lovely light captured here. Beautiful image.

Keep in my mind this is just a personal preference of mine but as a general rule I tend to leave reflections out of images unless they are pretty sharp and are adding a lot to an image. While I think this is a ripper image (and wish it were mine) I can see another potential image where the grass is much lower in the frame and the reflections from the trees on the bank are included.

I encounter this dilemma all the time when shooting shorebirds and waders and a decision has to be made about whether to include the reflection or go for the background instead. Lots of factors to consider obviously, sometimes the background is horrible etc etc.

But I just mention this as food for thought for future reference.

Thanks for the comments Mick and I agree entireley. It's a dilemma for me as well.

With this particular shot the grass was in good light and it follows that the reflection was too and gives the water a golden tone. I like the look of that. I spot exposed the grass which lost most of the detail from the background as it's in shade so the reflections back there were not really going to help much.

It pretty well turned out the way I wanted and you can't hope for much more than that. (Apart from others liking it too.. I might add!)

Great shot Greg, beautiful light on the grass and the spot metering on it exposed the image perfectly for me. I'd just be tempted to clone out that one white area of foam(?) to the right of the grass
