        Tags were nearly as big as the eartags they use on cattle,had one in both wings as well.

          I read that it was national count an ibis day sometime last month.
          I think it said something about their moving into various territories traditionally outside their domain and wanting to track that..
          The tagging is awful. Small consolation, but it's on the wing of a large common bird rather than multiple tagged/bands mutilating the legs (sometimes til the legs destroyed) on an uncommon one.

            True Jo,I`ve seen birds with crippled legs due to Bands.Around here the Ibis are in almost plague proportions around dumpsters and rubbish tips.

              Hate seeing the birds with tags and that one is huge. Saw a tiny Red-capped Plover a few days ago with a leg tag and it was really irritating him.
