Lovely peaceful spot Hans. Colours are great. If you PP'd it, would you like to show off your skills and post the original? Up to you of course.

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.

I doubt if I can find the original but I did have a jpg picture that had been processed before and that prompted me to create this new version.

It was originally a portrait format because of what was going on with planes and the moon. When I saw it I thought that it should be a Landscape with all those horizontal lines.

A little more contrast was given by whitening the surf and a bit more colour in the sky. I think it worked.

I see there's no sunlight but on my monitor the sand looks green and I don't know why. The strange wonders of the universe I guess

It probably has something to do with the lack of blue and the response of the sensor chip. Personally just call it ART! lol

We can call it ART 'cause that's what it is. I'm currently experimenting with Gradient Maps for doing colour enhancements and changes - it's quite amazing, what effects can be created from an artistic point of view.

On another note, I find it frustrating that a lot of "photographers" don't grasp the fact that the dynamic range of camera sensors is nowhere near that of our own eyes. The huge range of colours and lighting we see can never be captured by a camera.

True by the same token our brain is easily fooled into incorrect conclusions. Funny you should bring up the subject of gradients. I have probably forgotten I have done this in the past but I thought I should be able to put a gradient on a mask and was looking for something to try this out on. The result is an image twice multiplied 100% with a gradient mask. You will probably like the colour of the sand better.

I am not familiar with the terms so a quick example would be informative.

What terms are you not familiar with Hans?

"Gradient Maps for colour grading". Never heard of this and the mind boggles.

I like it Hans, particularly the horizontal layers, the breaking wave and the colours, but the pink colour in the sky above the horizon looks a bit overdone to me. The more orange tones in the second look better to me.
