Landguard fort - Felixstowe

This was just playing about to see if I could join two images in Infinity Photo. It seems to work quite well.

Landguard Fort is at the approach to Harwich Harbour and according to the blurb "was built in the 18th century, and modified in the 19th century, with substantial additional 19th and 20th-century outside batteries". It was manned through both World Wars before being disarmed and closed in 1956. It is now run by English Heritage and open to the public.

Nice. The person on the left gives a good sense of scale. I had to use Google maps to see exactly where in the UK it is. I assume it was built primarily to guard against invasion from France.

It looks a fascinating place to visit, love the archtecture.
Great work with the stitch. Affinity Photo does a good job.
Almost as good as the Microsoft freebie Image Composite Editor (ICE).

The size is apparent by the scale offered by the person on the left as K1W1 mentioned.

I took a look on maps and it's enormous!! The value of that land in that location would be in the many millions.

I've visited the Harwich Redoubt (from the same period & just across the Harbour) but have yet to make my way round to Landguard. It looks a little more open than Harwich which is now surrounded by houses!
Good job with the stitching.

It is nicely separated from the town by heath and sat on the edge of the estuary on one side and the beach on the other. On a sunny day, which this was, it's a very pleasant walk.
