  • Aramac Queensland and their Sculpture Trail

    G'day all

This tiny town north of Barcaldine has a local artist who has created many quite interesting sculptures from junk retrieved from local rubbish dumps

She has now placed about 50 items along local roads, and the tourism people are now including these into brochures etc. We did the tour during July and took 2-1/2 days to cover the 200km (going slowly and stopping overnight way out in the bush to enjoy the quiet and the stars)

Here's a glimpse of a number of the sculptures

    1)- Drover and dog

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/2000s x F4,0; ISO-100; Lens at 4x zoom / 105mm FFequiv

    2)- Eagle with snake

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/400s x F4,0; ISO-100; Lens at 6x zoom / 150mm FFequiv

3)- Emu with chicks (where the chick bodies are motorbike fuel tanks)

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1300s x F4,0; ISO-100; Lens at 2x zoom / 50mm FFequiv

    plus Emu closeup

    4)- Kangaroos fighting

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1000s x F4,0; ISO-100; Lens at 1x zoom / 25mm FFequiv

    plus Roos closeup

    5)- Plains Turkeys

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1600s x F4,0; ISO-100; Lens at 3x zoom / 85mm FFequiv

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Great collection. Wonderful imagination from the artist.

      Hi Hans

Yep - and the above is only a small showing of them all.

          Hi Isac
You might have noticed that many of the above are camera-low + looking upwards
With many of the 50+/- sculptures I deliberately held the camera at ankle-level and used the swivelling rear-screen to pose the sculpture, so that I could get as much blank sky / clear background as possible. ie- something I could not have been able to do without the articulated rear screen

Thanks Phil. Those screens do help us oldies get a low down POV.
