  • Lake Manasarovar, Tibet autonomous region, China

My first post here. High altitude fresh water lake lies at 4,590 m (15,060 ft) above mean sea level. Tibet is a vast high altitude desert with very little vegetation.

Hi Sunny, welcome to the great Aussie Photoholics forum. Those clouds are brilliant and really make the images pop. Are the clouds in #1 really that dark blue?

Thanks Sundar, it just looks different to what we see here. It's a really strong image and well worth capturing.

Isaac, I notice that the first two of these have exif attached! Has there been a change?

Taboo, We've been trying for ages to be able to see the exif data and yesterday we cracked it. Coincidental at best. I have noticed that exif data is visible in older posts but only if it wasn't stripped by the user before posting. We were always told that vBulletin actually stripped the exif data from uploaded images. I now believe that would have been impossible and it appears they only blocked it somehow from actually being displayed. Win win for us who like to see the data.

Those are moisture-laden clouds. I believe the blackness is because of absorption of light in water droplets. There is scattering going on also to give that bluish color which in turn is reflected by the clouds. The very high altitude may be playing a role also, I am not sure. I have seen elsewhere (India in monsoon period) clouds turning really black and ominous in situations like this.

I have made the image a bit lighter to cut the darkness of clouds.

I liked the dark clouds, I was just interested in their unusual colour.

    G'day Sundar

A beaut set of sparkling images - they all grab me in different ways, esp the possibility of making a pano from any of them
I played with #1 as ... setting the beaut rainbow against the heavy cloud to the right-side

4 - Don't know why I couldn't attach an image with the comment made earlier. This Is based on Phil's suggestion.

Hi Sundar. "Comments" are not for posting images unfortunately, to do that you have to start a new post. I don't mind the panno - it creates a completely different image. I like the original too because of the foreground interest and the impact of those stunning clouds. Wonderful image.

brilliant shots Sunny! I like the mood you captured in the first and that rainbow is just unique. If you number your images it's easier for reference when members comment
