  • Ooglemina Creek, nth of Coober Pedy

    G'day all

The back road from Coober Pedy in central South Australia into the Pedirka Desert and Oodnadatta, takes one past the Ooglemina Creek. Like much of the Outback, the creek sees running water every few years.

I'm not all that happy with the pp for this one and would welcome feedback
From the JPG original I have (unusually) lightened the shadows / foreground by 25% and darkened the clouds / highlights by a similar amount. To my eye, it all looks a bit flat and uninspiring ... so feedback welcome

The sky and clouds look good. The foreground, and maybe the lower bank of clouds, could do with a bit more contrast. I would increase texture in Lightroom, or use tonal contrast in Nik. Not sure if you have something similar.

I’m not at the computer atm, so can’t see if that would help or not

I had a crack at this Phil. Applied Tonal Contrast function in Nik Color Efex to whole image except the darker sky in top RH corner. Just using the default settings.

      What do you think?

        Hi Alan
Sky seems a bit strong - land seems okay
I will try again myself when I have a moment
ps- I only use a very old copy of PSElements for basic adjustments

I wasn’t going to touch the sky, but I didn’t mind the result when applied to the whole image. I do tend to like skies on the dramatic side sometimes. The land could possibly be made a touch brighter too.
