  • Sunset out on the Wallaby

    G'day all

Being out 'on the wallaby' is an old Aussie term from the days of the Swagmen and women who trudged from place to place looking for work -or gold in the goldrush days of the mid to late 1800s. Travellers today use the term once they are away from the main highways and byways, out in the bush where life runs more slowly, and the traveller has "time to stop and smell the roses"

Here the motorhome and us are enjoying the wonderful colours of sunset - with sheep and cattle and a few wallabies for company

    ps- for the inquisitive - the 3 antennae above the driver's door - from L to R are phone/internet ... AM/FM ... UHF 2-way radio

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Thanks for explaining the term "wallaby" Phil. I have been trying to figure out it's meaning thinking it had something to do with rhyming slang i.e. "frog & toad" = road.

Well the Cockney's in the early days might well have said that too

Living the dream Seem to be able to smell roses year round when you go north. Those antennas seem to be a bit close together and could interact. Hope you see beautiful sunsets and rises till you get sick of them.

Wonderful colours Phil. Good perspective by including the van. I'd never get tired of looking at scenes like that.
