Old timber post 'n rail fencing

G'day all

The other day I was meandering around the village of Genoa, in Gippsland, eastern Victoria and came across these delightful old fence palings

1)-

exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/15s x F11; ISO-400; lens at 2x zoom / 55mm FFequiv

2)-

exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/320s x F4,1; ISO-400; lens at 4x zoom / 90mm FFequiv

Looking at #1 --
In the camera -- because I know from experience that the on foggy days and bright cloudy days that the meter is fooled by the brightness and underexposes the images, I deliberately set the exposure to overexpose by 2/3 EV (2-clicks of the adjustment knob). Then I set F11 for DoF, and focussed about mid way along the first plank,

In the computer -- I used Levels to look at the RGB curves and brought the curves back to where they should be if the exposure was perfect (see below).

This image is just showing the G curve from the RGB options

Once this was done it was Save-As so as not to kill the original and downsize and make a 2nd copy at 1000px wide for the forum (1000px wide is my choice)

Excellent colour, texture and composition in #1 Phil. #2 doesn’t appeal to me as much because of the amount of bare sky, I think.

ps- and it seems that the rails have had a lift as well

I can't help myself Phil. And yes the rails got a slight boost in colour. I use my pen/tablet as much as my mouse, so they share the load (and excitement).
