  • Portsea Surf Beach

Taking advantage of a very low tide. Middle of the day, not the best light but it is what it is.

    #1 Sierra Nevada Rocks. F10.0 4 seconds ISO1600.

I like #2 Not sure if the slow shutter speed did much for it though. Particularly like the colours

Sorry John, not a fan of the slow shutter for these. Everything else is great - colours, framing, subject etc. When you do slow shutters, try a "normal" shot as well, to compare. Good to see you're out and about with your new kit.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I agree that #1 does not work all that well but I'm still playing around to see what works and what doesn't. I'm really happy about the composition and colours in both these images.

Keep playing mate, looks like you're having somne fun on the learning curve. Next task: Blend both long and short exposures in PS using masks.

        G'day John

May I add to the above but add ...
I like #1 better than #2 which looks a tad plain to my eyes

Q- how do you manage ISO-1600 and 4-seconds in the middle of the day? -- unless there's a bluddy great ND involved
Q- #1 seems unsharp ... is there some tripod wobble coming into it? -or is the (possible) ND doing something unwanted??

12 stop ND filter attached. Sorry, I should have included it in the EXIF.

I like number 2 out of these and would like to visit there one day.
Just have to get into the landscape way of thinking to take a few shots as I think I do lack that a little now.
We don't have too much of a change from on area to the next here and is partly why I moved over to birds.

I you ever get down to Melbourne Ralph send me a message and we could visit a few beaches if you would like that.
Have you ever been to the Perry Sandhills near Wentworth, they offer some dramatic landscape opportunities.

Thank you for that offer I really appreciate it.
I have not been out to the Sandhill since covid closed the border.
But I do know what you mean about them as they are forever changing.
But I might get the wife in the car and go over there for a picnic and tell her the camera needs a walk around the place.
      Working...
