  • Cliff trees at Adventure Bay at 35mm focal length - overcoming perspective distortion

This is a view of the same cliff face at Adventure Bay I previously posted. This was taken at a focal length of 35mm on the same 16-35mm lens, with optical correction (same as before) in Photoshop. Different edit giving a different feel to the image. This is a much more accurate (true to life) rendition of the scene, however, artistically, I still really like where the trees were leaning in, as per the previous image I posted.

Beautiful lighting on the trees and rocks Sean. I also prefer the other image.

Thanks mate. I guess it's the choice between total realism and semi-surrealism. Sometimes the latter can be even more compelling, such as when photographing buildings where the keystoning effect can actually enhance the feel of the buildings towering over you.

I like this image Sean. Nice array of varying light situations and you've got the shadows detail in the small cliff face nailed.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks for that. Yes I was pleased with the balance of light and shade here, and ensuring there was no clipping in either shadows or highlights, and that dynamic range was at it's widest point.

    G'day Sean

We all have our likes / dislikes and I'm happy with either of them
The 'but' is "which one is to become a poster-print on your lounge room wall? coz they are both fab shots
