This is of beautiful Two Tree Point, Adventure Bay, Bruny Island. These two large gum trees were there when Captain James Cook moored in Adventure Bay and his men came ashore here to replenish their water supplies. One of the crew painted these trees, and the spot has been called Two Tree Point ever since. We have our Adventure Bay Holiday Home just up the hill from this amazing location.

Beautiful scene Sean. The trees are positioned well, with the waves providing a line leading to the trees, and some interesting clouds to top it off. Good colour and contrast too.

Alan, this is the sort of feedback I was hoping for in this forum. Constructive critique is so helpful, rather than Facebook type comments of 'Awesome, dude!!' Really appreciate this :-)

That's what we're about Sean. I know what you mean about Facebook, having seen poor shots receiving over-the-top-praise.

Spot on! And really, I found only one group who were really (sometimes brutally) honest about my photos, pointing out mistakes I had not seen or noticed. Saying a photo is 'fantastic' is wonderful praise to receive! But, saying there is a compositional error that could be fixed by doing ....., is far more helpful. We only really learn through constructive feedback. That's why I am here.

This is a great image Sean. You're not leaving much to critique. I agree with Alan about the leading lines. Your colours are nice and vivid with good contrasts and good DOF to get detail throughout the scene. You've nailed the R.O.T. with the tree and horizon - which is nice and level BTW. If I had any CC at all, maybe less of a tighter crop on the top to give the tree a bit more room, other than that - well above average.
Your image is rather small and could be much larger to view in the post rather than click on it to expand. I would suggest you take a quick look at the "Uploading Images" tab at the top of the page to see what best suits you for posting your images.

          R.O.T? Don't know that acronym :-)
Also re uploading, I went to the page that describes it and it says to make the image no more than 1024px on the longest side and no more than 250kb in file size, which is minute! I have done that on this and the other photo uploaded (when I posted on Facebook I was putting in files of 1.5 - 3 MB which I considered small, but <250kb is microscopic). Be very happy to know I'm doing something wrong and how to correct it

ROT - rule of thirds. Like all rules it is okay to be broken at times

            G'day Sean

Yeah mate "250kb" is bluddy-minute but it seems to be the standard around the world to assist open / free fora to operate without too great an expense for bandwidth .... something Fb does not seem to worry about

It's a bit of a bugga, but one soon gets used to it
