  • A couple from the west

I really like the colours and textures of the the western landscape but I find it difficult to get photos that do it justice. It's the contrast of the light brown grass and the red earth that I would like to capture. These are all taken soon after sunrise

I know what you mean Alan, what we see and what the camera captures can be two entirely different things. That's why we have photoshop
All good images, but I really like #3.

#3 for me Alan - wonderful. All good though and I love the colours and light.

Thanks Isac. I like the colours and light too, but am still looking for a strong composition that includes the grass and earth colours.

#3 is close to what you want. The grass is fabulous. Perhaps a blend with another image that has more of the rich red earth?

    G'day Alan

Sunrise pics are delightful when we can get them
From experience, I do as much as I can in the 5-minutes just before the sun breaks the horizon to 5-minutes after sunrise. My cameras are then put away 15 minutes after sunrise as the rich red colours are starting to fade. However if I am after the lovely long shadows rather than the rich red colour, I will shoot for another 20-30 minutes

One of the wonderful advantages of the motorhome - I can park overnight then feed myself a cooked brekky on-site!!

I had a look at your photos Phil. Excellent work and well done to get it right in the camera. I particularly like the termite mounds.
