Great shot of our past Phil. There's something about this type of image that invokes a huge appreciation of the physical hard yakka which was carried out by our forbears to make great progress.

Thx mate- and 'yes' it does bring all of nostalgia + sadness + other stuff whenever I come across things like this
We/ Aust could have become a 'great nation' if our pollies of 100+ years ago had not been so narrow minded rather than considering the new continent a wide-open opportunity for advancement. The different railway standards is one of the classic failures

It's a sad and sorry thing when we threw away our once great nation and followed the errors of other nations. The greatness is lost along with many other nations. I think Singapore stands above all others, probably because the governments does not put up with any crap and they realise that the size of the small country needs strong policies to ensure it has a lasting future. I feel sorry for the young in this crazy world we've let decline in a major way.

Nothing has changed as far as the pollies are concerned. Picture is a sad reminder of the passing of time.
