Walka Water works

Just spent a few days in the Hunter Valley. Was told to go and have a look at the old water works complex that supplied the valley until the thirties. Found it most interesting but sad that the machinery was sold for scrap metal in the fifties.





The quality of the brickwork surprised me. Fist class work built to last.

I don't know this facility but will try to remember it for a future visit thru that area
and like you - yes the brickwork was "done in the days of craftsmen" when workers "did things with pride" ~ rather than today's ... get it done qwik as you can stuff

Lovely old architecture Hans and well captured.

It must have been quite a project at the time. I think there were three steam driven pumps in the building. There is a model built to scale but the place was locked up.
