I.C.E. is the single best piece of software Microsoft have ever produced. It's just a shame I have not been able to use it for the last 7 or so years since I went Mac. Fortunately products like LR and PS now have pretty good pano stitching abilities.. -
This is the shot that got me hooked on ICE back in 2009.It was just a test but It is an 18 shot vertical pano (ICE used 15 of the images). Nothing else on the market at the time would do the merge everything else just crashed. On the full size image if you zoom in on the foliage towards the top there are very very few mistakes in the stitching.

ICE was not around when I did my little survey into free & lo-cost pano software ~ now well over a decade ago
I chose PIXTRA - a $50 w- support for life and have never regretted my decision
fwiw- I often stitch a dozen or more images together, but have restrained myself from doing the 360degree stuff that Pixtra is well known for
as for PS 'photomerge' options, I found too many failures with it to use it seriously
ps- my Flikr site has plenty of panos uploaded ~ all 1200px wide as a restriction from copying by others

Cheers Phil. There are numerous software programs for stitching nowadays. I'm not familiar with Pixtra. I'm super happy with I.C.E. so never ventured into the others, although I recall I tried HUGIN a few years back.Whatever works I guess. I don't do a lot of it so not worth spending money on it. I glanced through your Flickr panos - very nice indeed. Cheers, Greg
