At last Hans! Here's what can be done with a luminosity mask. On my website, download the following
1. Luminosity Masks Action (Item 19) HERE
2. PS Styles (Item 15) and Enhacing Actions (Item 13) HERE
Unzip them and double click on: Isac Images LUMINOSITY MASKS.atn, Isac Images ENHANCEMENTS.atn and Isac's Gradients.grd. They will all automatically be added to the Photoshop Actions Panel and Gradients list.
Now, open the image in ACR. Set the sliders in the Basic Tab as below ( or as you like) then click Open Image.
Once in Photoshop, under Isac Images ENHANCEMENTS action group,
1. Run the Isac's SUBTLE SHADOWS ADJUSTMENT action to boost the shadows a bit more.
2. Under Isac Images LUMINOSITY MASKS action group, run the Create All Luminosity Masks action.
3. Switch to the Channels Panel and you will see the luminosity masks.
4. Select the "Lights (3)" mask and click the small round dotted circle at the bottom of the panel to load that selection (see marching ants).
5. Click on the RGB channel at the top of the list to turn on the colours and then click on the LayersTab.
6. Click on the "Create new fill or adjustment layer" icon (black and white circle at the bottom of layers panel) and select "Gradient Map ...". (This will create a new layer with your selected mask and a small thumbnail).
7. Click on the thumbnail to open the Gradient Map Properties panel.
8. Click on the actual Black and White gradient to open the Gradient Editor.
9. Select the Blue "GB-Sky" gradient (as shown below) and then click OK.
10. Back in the Gradient Map properties box, click the check box for "Reverse".
11. In the Layers Panel, click in the Layer Blending Mode box and select "Color".
That's it! Looks like a lot of things to do but in reality, it's not many clicks to get it done.
If you get a blue look in some of the sand etc, use a soft BLACK brush and paint on the mask to hide the effect. White brush will paint it back in.
I added a levels mask to brighten up the sand and this is the finished product.
I had only a minor hickup. Couldn't find the gradient lile so I opened the three zip files again as I didn't know in which zip file it belonged. I would think it was an error totally on my part.
OK. Firstly, you should have picked the Gradient Map (not the Gradient Fill).
When you click the icon in the layers panel, it will show the Gradient Map. Click on the actual gradient as below and it will open the Gradient Editor.
That's where you select the gradient you want. 2020 has a whole bunch of different gradients all categorised. The "Isac's Gradients 2020 will be at the end of the current list.
Here's the correct gradients for you and I apologise for giving you the wrong ones in the download, I will fix that today. Unzip and double click this one to install it in Photoshop.
To delete any gradient Group just select it and right click, then chose "Delete Group", same for individual gradients. Isac's Gradients 2020.zip
