Love a sunburnt country but like a rain soaked one better.

A month of light rain would make all the difference. The trouble is "Huey" sends it down in bucketloads and washes away what topsoil is left.
Is that smoke haze from the fires Hans?

You're right there. last time the drought broke it washed a pile of dirt into the pool and flooded the place. Took months to clean up. Yes couldn't even see the neighbours lights lst night let alone the town. That is pretty good as far as smoke has been. We see quite a few fire trucks go by but as far as I know the fire is about 1.5 hours away. As you can see I'm not that worried about fire as there is nothing to burn. Who'd be a farmer?

I wouldn't be a farmer for quids Hans. Battling weather, overseas imports and supermarkets, too bloody hard for me.

I must say, where you live looks pretty special, even if it is a bit harsh sometimes. Last night we had strong winds and it blew over a small pot plant - I was devastated!
Strong winds last month ripped my shade sail in half, more heartache! $3200 to replace it, tough on a pensioner. Geez, you've got a veranda you lucky boy. I do have a front porch 6 square metres - oh such joy!

I had wriiten a magnificent reply and was looking for a picture to support it. By the time I got back to include it it wouldn't send. I presume it had timed out as I had an interuption from the social director.
I knew I couldn't repeat the previous brilliance so I spat the dummy .

Rotten thing to happen Hans. Usually it will save the text and ask if you want to restore it when you go back to it. When I have a long winded piece to write I ALWAYS do it in a text file then copy and paste when I'm ready to post. Maybe something to consider. I have a text editor on my desktop called GetDiz. Free, very easy to use - it's "simple" in a box.

Mixed feelings about this image Hans. I really like the colours and feel you have captured here, but the reasons for the colours are not so nice. Funny how nature can make the byproduct of a disaster into something beautiful.

I understand what you are saying. Got up early to get some water. Also what drew me to the picture was the green of the race track it was quite a contrast with the rest of the country side.

I like your image and the contrasts as you mentioned Hans. Sad about the smoke - it will clear eventually.
