  • Dry lake bed

On the way out to the Perry Sandhills I spotted a dry lake bed that looked promising, so I went back the next day for a closer look.

#1 Can anyone spot the grass parrot?

#3 for me John. I love a bit of minimalist photography and this is very appealing. Lovely detail and textures.

Thanks Isac, I'm thinking of playing around with it in Silver Efex Pro 2

Interested to see what you come up with. Nice and contrasty!! Oh, BTW, here's your lost grass parrot.

Mono seems a bit severe to me - but good one if you're happy with it

I'm on the fence with this one John (the one that's not in frame). Maybe just less bright?

I think it looks OK. Similar to yours above. The beauty of the action is that you can change blend modes for all sorts of effects. Try the GREEN layer to DARKEN.

My take couple of clicks using lab mode used shadow and lightness control slider on the lightness channel. then converted to grey scale before saving.

Good as well Hans. Gives it a totally new look. I like the Lab Mode and use it a bit. I have an action for that as well included with the black and white action.

Yes will get to have a look at that soon. I am researching Shimano fishing reels at the moment. Before I'm going to get dragged away to place concreting mesh.

Ah jeez, I'd love to come and help out but I missed my flight by "that much". Besides it's too bloody cold down your way AND my excess luggage with all my long johns, thermals, gloves and woolie undies would be a killer!

The weather is lovely at the moment. Perfect for concreting. I would help but I am off to Norfolk Island for a week. Because I can.
