Super colours like you mentioned Hans. The tree is similar to our Jacarandas. That coppa looks just like ones here in WA.I Shoot A Canon

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

That is a Jacaranda there are lots of them. Also have loads of Australian eucalypts here which are blamed for the bad fires they had last year. The trees were originally imported about 150 years ago.Better a full bottle in front of me
than a full frontal lobotomy.

I love the Jacarandas, really do have a contrasting colour which makes them pop in any photo. Those fires were really caused by a combination of things, arson, Hurricane Ophelia, unusually dry and warm summer and very poor forest management. I reckon the gum trees played a very small part. They could see it from England! Anyway, make sure you butt out your cigars properly - we all want you back home in one pieceI Shoot A Canon

"Eucalyptus Oil and Fire
On hot days in Tasmania and blue gum’s other native regions, eucalyptus oil vaporizes in the heat. The oil leaves a smoggy miasma hanging over the eucalyptus groves. This gas is extremely flammable and the cause of many wild fires. The natural detritus under the tree is resistant to microbial or fungal break down due to the oils. This makes the tree’s oil a wonderful antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory, but the unbroken down material is like using kindling to start a fire. It is tinder dry and contains the flammable oil. One bolt of lightning or a careless cigarette and the forest can easily become an inferno."

They may not have been a direct cause, but they certainly didn't help.
