Looks like a lot of iron oxide. Lovely colours and a unique landscape.
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

Really hoping to get up that way next year Todd. My health's not real flash at the moment and I have a torn ligament in my right arm that will hinder setting up the fold forward camper.

Thanks Hans. The entire Pilbara is just red like that. Really spectacular.

Good luck John. Hope you mend quickly and get to experience it up there.

Thanks Todd, things aren't too serious so I should be able to do the trip. I used to do contract maintenance work for BHP & Rio Tinto at Dampier/Cape Lamber/Port Hedland so I got to see a bit of the area. Did a day trip to Marble Bar and a trip out to Chichester - Python Pool, but would like to show the missus the area.

I'm sure she will love it. Some of the waterholes out the back of Marble Bar are amazing.

Such beautiful colours in that harsh country. Well captured Todd.
        Cheers, Brad.

You've captured it just like you see it Todd. Fabulous open country and spectacular colours that go for miles (that's 1.6 kilometres for the young ones). I used to work up that way in the early 70's, mainly based at Wittenoom Gorge - now that's a photographers paradise. I don't have photos anymore, they were destroyed in a fire - but I still have the memories.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

You should return to recapture some memories.

I did go back but only for a visit to the Rio Tinto mine at Paraburdoo. I did get some great shots while I as there.

I've got plenty inside Wittenoom Greg. I'll share some for you. I imagine it's very different to the 70's.

That would be great Todd! When I was there, the main pub had huge double swinging saloon doors on the corner and guys would come in on horseback and some on motorbikes. It was a rough and tumble town back then.
